Emily Seif

Emily Seif is a Melbourne-based Film Director and Photographer with a versatile portfolio of work across commercial, documentary and music video projects. Driven by a desire to connect with people and celebrate what makes us human, Emily recognises the gifts in each personality she works with – whether it’s a fictional character, hired talent or the subject of a documentary – and skillfully distills this sensitivity on screen. Her films are led with heart and humour, capturing memorable scenes that effortlessly invite connection.

With a background across performance, design, music and dance, Emily draws upon her creative passions to guide an intuitive, intentional and hands-on approach to storytelling. She brings characters to life through sharp casting choices, evokes personalities to shine on screen, and lets empathy and energy guide the camera. Her work imagines rhythms that drive a narrative forward, and considers editing as visual choreography – attentive to every creative detail that elevates the telling of a story. The result is audacious decisions, playful personality and colourful vignettes that leave viewers with an afterglow  – whether it’s a bite-sized commercial or meditative documentary.

As a female filmmaker with Egyptian roots, Emily naturally gravitates towards capturing stories that platform racialised communities – and she does not shy away from the drama.

Emily’s clients include global brands such as Reebok, Sony, YouTube and Mitchell & Ness, with local clients including SUK Workwear, ACMI, RISING Festival, GRID Series, City of Melbourne, Live Below the Line and the Parliament of Australia.
